Another Fall photo. This tree looms over the site office where I was working today...

Side note: This post marks the halfway point in my 365 Project! Okay, technically half of 365 would be 182.5, but let's not split hairs here. I have 6 more months to go!

A great perspective along the starboard side of the ship. The building I was working on today is the blue high rise in the background....

Do not adjust your screens. These are rain drops on the glass panels out on my balcony. The weather kept me home today and I was bored...

Fall is upon us, at least in this part of the world, so I'm marking the change of seasons with a great old photo I took right about this time 2 years ago...

I got a demo version of a new Ship Simulator this evening and took this photo of my screen while I set sail in the Antarctic...

I'm not really much of a gamer, but once in a while I do enjoy the odd strategy or simulator. Since I also happen to like boats and ships, something like this is perfect for me.

I'm on a boat!

A Great Blue Heron patiently fishes from a tangle of kelp at Ogden Point...

I know very little about fishing, but I'm told a bad day fishing is better than a good day at work.

Mooring lines...

I took this photo this afternoon, along with a lot of other great shots.
This one is my favorite.

I got my hair cut today. This is the shortest my hair has been in a very long time...

This is also the first self portrait I've ever posted here on this blog.
Megan really likes this photo of me.

Megan's new nautilus shell. Her previous one - a treasure from a childhood trip to Florida -was tragically shattered several years ago by our cat. Since then Megan has been trying to find a nice replacement with no luck. Then, about 3 weeks ago, I spotted this one when I wasn't even looking for it. This shell now sits out of kitty's reach...

After blindly walking past it twice then asking a store employee for help in finding it (the New Releases shelf wasn't clearly marked), I finally got my hands on the new Robert Plant album Band of Joy. I can't wait to actually listen to it...

I didn't take any photos today, so here's one I took a week ago today somewhere on the drive back to Victoria from Campbell River...

The weather today wasn't much different.

There's nothing like fresh corn on the cob from the Comox Valley right here on Vancouver Island. We brought some home with us from our recent trip up Island and had some with supper tonight. So. Good.

It's that time of year when the leaves start to turn and different trees seem to do this different ways. This is the maple tree in my mother-in-law's yard...

Just for fun, I took another shot using my camera's colour accent feature...

The weather for the long drive home after the memorial service yesterday was as gloomy as we all felt...

Don't worry, I wasn't driving. This photo was taken from the passenger seat.

This is the smallest plane I've ever flown in, a Piper 31 Navajo, on the tarmac at Victoria International Airport Sunday afternoon...

It belongs to a brand new company operating here on the Island and Megan and I were the very first passengers on it's inaugural flight from Victoria to Comox this past weekend. It was such a great flight and so much faster than driving or taking the train. What usually takes about 3 hours took roughly 30 minutes including a quick stop in Nanaimo to drop off the only other passenger. From there to Comox we had the plane to ourselves and the pilot said it was like we had a chartered flight. What a neat experience!

All set for a party...

We decided to go ahead with our houewarming party this evening. It will be a welcome distraction from all the sadness and shock over our recent family tragedy to have a few good friends over for a few drinks, some laughs and some good music.

Back in October, 2009, U2 put on a big show live on YouTube from the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. I was able to watch some of the show live at the time, but the sound and picture quality weren't the greatest and the video stream kept freezing on me, so I gave up. Well, all these months later, I finally have my copy of the DVD from that amazing show...

PS: I think I'm caught up now after missing a day earlier this week.

When searching for yesterday's photo I came upon a bunch of photos from that era that I had completely forgotten about. For example, this photo I took of a doe and her fawn having lunch in Filberg Park in Comox.

I didn't post a photo yesterday, but yesterday was not a good day for me. As some of my friends may have read on Facebook, last night I learned that an inlaw of mine has passed away and my head is still spinning over this sudden and unexpected tragedy. While related only through marriage, I really liked Bill. I'll miss his jokes and stories. I can't imagine what his wife and sons must be going through, but my heart really goes out to them.

For yesterday's photo and for Bill and his family, I'm posting a photo from a happier occasion...

Bill & Colleen. I took this photo in 2006.
We'll miss you, Bill.
