My wife Megan has been collecting and drying leaves to use as decorations this weekend. I was trying to capture all the different colours when Merlin suddenly popped up...
I love the variety of deciduous trees we have around here.
In keeping with my Halloween theme this week, I give you three photos I took around this time in 2008 on a walk through Victoria's historic Ross Bay Cemetery...
How strange is it that I would meet a black cat in a cemetery around Halloween?
A monument for a lost sailor.
"So glad you could drop in 'kill' seekers! Don't worry about me, it only 'hearse' when I laugh!" - The Crypt Keeper.
It's one of those cool fake flame lights that we bought for a Halloween many years ago then dropped into a storage bin where it's been ever since. All these years later and the original bulbs still work!
Merlin likes to flop down on the rug next to me in the den while I'm sitting in front of the computer. Problem is that he usually moves as soon as I go to grab my camera. Go figure, right. Cats will always stop being cute when you want to take their picture. Well today I was stealthy and I got him....
I didn't notice until I saw this photo that he tracked some cat litter onto my rug and now I need to vacuum.
My 200th post - on a post-it! Nothing but the finest big budget fanfare for my loyal viewers...
I want to thank everyone for your support. I still have a way to go, and I'll admit it's hard to post a new photo every day, but I'm determined to make it to 365, and perhaps beyond...
Look close. The second ship is way out there on the horizon. I'm sorry the image is a little grainy. The digital zoom on my camera isn't the greatest and I couldn't fix it in editing.
Swing stage beams, lifelines, and counterweights, oh my!
This is where I'm working this week, but I didn't have the camera with me today, so this photo is from the last time I was on the roof of this building a few weeks ago. It looked the same today as it does in the picture.
In Canada today is Thanksgiving Day. My wife and I didn't do a traditional big turkey dinner - we'll do that for the next big holiday in December. We had pork chops with salads, and instead of pumpkin pie, I baked chocolate chip cookies...
This batch is slightly over-cooked, but they're still really tasty!
I spent a good part of my day playing my guitars, so for today's photo I got a little artsy with this "player's eye view" of myself using my chrome slide....
This is a close up picture of my computer monitor showing the radar image from the Environment Canada website. It's a little hard to see, but Victoria is right about where the mouse pointer is. And this is what it looked like outside my balcony this afternoon...
Look close and you can see a few vertical streaks of falling raindrops.
Norwegian Star, the last cruise ship to visit Victoria for 2010, pulling away from Pier B at Ogden Point this afternoon. Check out the very distinct paint scheme along her hull...
Sailing off into the sunset....
Good bye, and safe journey. I can't wait to see which ships come to visit us next year.
